Textile manufacture in Iriomote Is.

Like other islands in Okinawa, Iriomote Is. also has its unique texitile culture by using its indigenous plants. You can observe how to make the texitiles or actually make your own texitiles with advance booking at the Teshigoto center or Handwork center in the island.
The next building of the Handwork center is Eco-tourism Organisation. You can study about
fauna and flora on the island as well as its history and organic agriculture. It is a nice place to avoid the heat outside and relax watching videos about the island.

Foods in Iriomote Island

Good foods are one of the important elements which make your travel enjoyable. On Iriomote island; my favorite place in Japan, I like the simple but delicious foods there. The photo is a unique food on the island called Ikasumi (Squid ink soup)-Soba (Noodle). Its mildly salty soup and thick noodles are harmonised very well. It is one of the best foods for lunch on the island. I would like you to try it, too without hesitation due to the color of the soup.
