It takes only 70 min by local train to get to Sawara-city in Chiba Prefecture from Tokyo.
The streets by the river through the the town are lined with neat rows of stores and houses, which were build around 100 years ago. You will imagine the typical Japanese town before being modernized. Have a stroll looking in at the stores by the river.

Have a beer, mate!
On the top of Mt. Moiwa near Sapporo city in Hokkaido, you should not miss this bar in the ice.
Have a strong liqueur and warm up your body and soul before heading down to the city.
But be careful not to drink too much as you may get drunk when come down a mountain though you do not feel so in the icy bar.

Sapporo No.2
20 min. ride on a local tram takes you to the foot of Mt. Moiwa.
Then, you can take a ropeway to near the top of the mountain or hill. (Only 500 meter altitude)
From the ropeway station to the top of Moiwa-yama, you can ride on a snow car or a sled pulled by the snowmobile in winter.
At the top of the mountain, you can enjoy the view, especially at night, and having a drink in a bar bulit by snow. You may realise Sapporo, a 180mil population city, is surrounded by nature;
moutians, sea and rivers.

Sapporo No.1
Sapporo is the capital city of Hokkaido with 180 million people.
An atmosphere of this local city changed in winter due to many foregin visitors, epsecially during the Snow Festival period.
There are many ski grounds around Sapporo. So, many visitors enjoy seeing the beautiful snow statues before or after enjoying snow sports.
As you can see sign boards written in English, Chinese and Korean here and there
and there are many staff who support foreign visitors, you do not have to worry about anything about visiting there.
So, get out of the big cities, such as Tokyo and Osaka and visit the local places to see the real Japan!
